Greg D. Carmichael, Chairman, President and CEO, Fifth Third Bancorp, Announced as Farmer School of Business 2018 Divisional Recognition Ceremony Speaker

The Farmer School of Business at Miami University is pleased to announce that Greg D. Carmichael, chairman, president and CEO, Fifth Third Bancorp, will be its 2018 Divisional Recognition Ceremony speaker.

Carmichael oversees the strategic direction of Fifth Third Bancorp, a diversified financial services company headquartered in Cincinnati. Fifth Third is one of the largest regional banks in the nation. The Company has $142 billion in assets and approximately 18,500 employees. It operates 1,154 retail banking centers in 10 states and has commercial and consumer lending presence throughout the United States. Its four main businesses are Commercial Banking, Branch Banking, Consumer Lending and Wealth & Asset Management.

Carmichael was named president in September 2012 and was appointed to the Board of Directors in July 2015. He became CEO in November 2015 and was elected chairman of the Board in January 2018.

With a diverse set of experiences in both technology and industrial manufacturing prior to joining the financial services, Carmichael brings a unique perspective to banking. His high-tech background makes him a unique bank CEO who embraces the opportunities of today’s fast-changing digital world. He has tremendous experience running large and complex organizations, and in successfully managing heavily regulated environments. Under Carmichael’s leadership, Fifth Third has taken a number of significant steps to enhance the profitability and resiliency of the Bank while also innovatively meeting the evolving needs of customers.

The Farmer School of Business is a premier undergraduate business school supporting 10 majors and co-majors and 15 minors. The School places emphasis on experiential learning, international study and leadership development to prepare students with skills, experience and maturity beyond the traditional undergraduate. The 2018 Divisional Recognition Ceremony will take place on Sunday, May 20th at 2:00PM at Miami University’s Millett Hall.
